AA's Day 3 Recap

Day three of the Swim BC AA Provincial Championships capped off a great weekend for the small team that Pacific Coast Swimming sent to Kamloops.  The final session saw a number of personal bests and Jemma Stevens find her way on to the podium in the Girls 12-13 200 Freestyle.  Stevens closed well during the last fifty metres of the race, out touching two other competitors by one tenth of a second with her time of 2:24.72.

Kealey Scott had a busy last session to the weekend, swimming to a 7th place finish in the Girls 14 & Over 50 Fly, as well as an eighth place finish in the Girls 14 & Over 100 Breast.  In the Girls 11 & Under 100 Breast, Misato Hiraoka swam to a 5th place.  Her time of 1:35.86 brought her within one second of the AAA qualification standard.  Hiraoka also swam to a 7th place finish in the Girls 11 & Under 400 IM, touching the wall in 6:54.60.  The weekend was capped off by Jemma Stevens swimming to a fifth place finish in the final event of the night.  Her time of 6:00.69 tied her previous personal best from VIR’s earlier this month.

Pacific Coast Swimming General Manager Mark Lancaster was impressed all weekend by the leadership shown by the older Bolts in Kamloops saying, “the athletes did a great job trying out their ‘leadership skills’.  The older ones all had a run at being the motivating speaker each session, which was great to see.”

Next up for Pacific Coast Swimming is the Swim BC AAA Provincial Championships taking place at Saanich Commonwealth Place, July 6th through 10th.  The Bolts will look to defend their crown as the best club in BC on home soil.  For more information about the meet, go to http://www.pacificcoastswimming.com/events/2016-bc-aaa-championships-0.
