Former PCS swimmer Caleigh Filmer makes Canadian Olympic Rowing Team

Pacific Coast Swimming would like to extend a big congratulations to former club member Caleigh Filmer, on qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games as a member of the women's eight rowing squad.  Caleigh was a member of Pacific Coast Swimming from 2005 through to 2010, and was an Age Group National medalist as well as a club rec record breaker in 400, 800 and 1500 free.

Pacific Coast Swimming General Manager Mark Lancaster, remembers Caleigh as a true compeititor, always pushing her limits during her time at the pool.  "Caleigh was a super aggressive racer and trainer, having a desire to win from warm-up to the end of practice racing," Lancaster said.  "She would always challenge herself, as she would attack each race with the same desire to win.  Rod Barratt (Director of Athlete Development) and I always enjoyed having her and her sister Katherine in the pool.  Congratulations Caleigh! "

"When she transitioned to rowing from swimming, she understood that all you have to do is work harder than everyone else.  When you do that, you can get to the top of whatever you do," added Barratt.  "As a member of Pacific Coast Swimming she was always in a good mood at the pool and brought her best every day.  It appears obvious she carried on with that at the rowing basin."

The rowing competition will take place at the Lagoa Stadium, August 6-14, in Rio de Janeiro. Good luck to Caleigh and her boat!
