Herman Mock Memorial Award - 2009-2010 Registration

Pacific Coast Swimming is honoured to inaugurate the Herman Mock Memorial Award in the 2009-2010 swim season.

Herman Mock (1935-2003) was an avid sportsman and sports fan. During his younger years he competed in track and field and qualified for the 1959 European Maccabiah Games held in Denmark, where he finished 4th in the 100m dash and his relay team won the bronze medal. Hans (Herman's nickname) was also a skilled tennis player and in at least one tournament obtained a silver medal. In his later life he continued to be involved with sports, both actively and as a spectator. Once his grandson started swimming, Hans took an avid interest in the sport. Sadly, Hans developed pancreatic cancer, and in the early evening of August 8, 2003, he quietly slipped into a coma and passed away.

This bursary was generously created by Herman Mock's family in honour of this extraordinary man. An award up to $1,500 will be given annually to a member in good standing of Pacific Coast Swimming who meets the eligibility criteria. Applications are available on our registration page.

The 2009-2010 PCS registration package is also available for download on our registration page.
