PCS' Eric Hedlin Qualifies for the 2017 Open Water World Championships

Eric Hedlin today competed at the FINA 10km Open Water World Cup race in Lac St. Jean, Quebec.  Eric placed in 4th overall and second Canadian, as Phillippe Guertin won the race.  Former PCS swimmer and Olympic Medallist Richard Weinberger finished behind Eric in 5th place.

This race serves as a Qualification for both Worlds and FISU games.   Three spots were open for World Championship qualification, but one was already filled by Richard Weinberger as 2016 Open Water Olympians are pre-qualified (thus our own Stephanie Horner has also pre-qualified).  At this point Eric has Qualified to represent Canada at the 2017 FINA World Open Water Championships in Taipei, Taiwan.  We will have to wait and see if he will be named to the FISU games team as well.

We will post official results when they become available.  Congratulations Eric!

The women's race including Stephanie Horner and Victoria Mock from PCS has just begun, and we will update with results as they come in so stay tuned.
