PCS Men Still Leading Into Day 3 Prelims

UVPCS remains the top team on the Mens side by a margin of 61 points! At the end of day three, we are trailing Langley in the combined score by a 51 point margin. This will make for an exciting last day!

Tonight in 800 Free, Cale Murdock took second after a hard battle in a time of 8:24. Anthony Gutierrez finished 7th with a new PB of 8:41.

In 200 Back, Bill Dongfang dropped from a 2:20 PB to a 2:17 in prelims and a very respectable 2:13.0 in finals. Naeva Scott-Bouris also improved over the distance striking 2 seconds off of her best finishing in 6th at 2:24, closing in on her first trials cut outside of freestyle. Jake Rambo finished a close fourth in the 15&O Men at 2:11, while teammate Anthony Gutierrez chopped 3 seconds off his PB at 2:14, finishing 12th overall.

Shortly after, Mariana Ponce de Leon drove hard from the start into the lead in 100 Breast, fading just a bit in the final 25m to place second in 14&U Girls, in a PB of 1:16.4. Arran Robertson was under the Trials Age group standard in 100 Breast, taking the silver for 15&U Boys in a time of 1:07. Kali Lancaster improved on her prelim swim, moving up in position to 11th at 1:16.2 in 15&O Girls. Tom Chapman finished 15th in 16 and older boys.

Up next for the girls was the 400 IM. Naeva Scott-Bouris had a spectacular swim slicing 8 seconds from her best, moving up to win the consolation final in 5:09. Her time was just outside of the Trials Age Group standard. Sydney Meldrum was just off her prelim effort finishing 16th. Earlier in the day, she swam a head to head swim off in 100 Breast and qualified from Canadian Western Champs coming up in April!

On the boys side, Bill Dongfang was back in action in the 200 IM. He moved from 7th to 2nd spot wiping an additional 3 seconds off of his prelim effort in a time of 2:14. Jake Rambo made his second appearance of the night. He improved on his morning performance but finished 7th in a tough field. Ian Goodyear placed second in 200 IM for Para, not long after scoring a PB in the 100 Breast where he finished 3rd.

In the final events of the evening, Naeva Scott-Bouris popped a PB in her 200 Free at 2:08 in her 3rd individual event before going on to represent the team in the 200 Mixed Medley Relay. Grace MacDonald also raced in the B Final. The girls were 10th and 13th respectively.

The UVPCS Mixed Medley Relay of Rambo, Harper, Meldrum and MacDonald took 7th.
