PCS Women Hold 100 Point Lead AGN Day 3

At the conclusion of the third day of Age Group Nationals, the women held on to their 100 point lead to Edmonton Keyano swim club. With two more days of racing, PCS is looking strong, holding steady at 5th position on the overal team side.  Highlights from tonight included a gold medal performance from 15 year old Molly Gowans in the 800 free, knocking 5 seconds off her best time and club record in a new time of 8:45.44. Lucas Tyler also swam to a commanding victory in the mens 16 year old 200 Butterfly, taking the gold in 2:05.40.

Two 4th place finishes by PCS swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke tonight. Hana Edwards (12) broke the club record (Blaire McDowell, 2014) in a new time of 1:18.41, just narrowly missing the podium. Michael Schmidt also 12, raced a huge best time clocking 1:11.77, beating his own club and VIR record, and narrowly missing the provincial record.

Sophie Lorette (12) increased her medal haul from the meet in the 200 butterfly, grabbing silver in a time of 2:29.21.  PCS also had finals swims from Molly Gowans, placing 6th, and Erin Lawrance (15) placing 8th.  The sole 50 Free finalist from PCS was Jessica Luo (13), racing to a fifth place finish and a new best time of 27.76

Sophie Lorette followed up her 200 Fly medal with another silver in the 800 Free, and set a new club record (Alyssa Bakken, 2005) in a time of 9:43.68.  Erin Jennings (14) raced in the final tonight to finish 8th.  Erin Lawrance raced to a solid 9th place from her morning swim showing her toughness on her birthday. On the boys side, Anthony Gutierrez swam a great race, knocking fourteen seconds off his best, finishing in 9th.
