Vicky Mock qualifies for Junior World Championships in 10km Open Water

Vicky Mock raced in Grand Cayman this morning at the annual Flowers Sea swim.  This 10km race was chosen by Swim Canada as the qualification for the Junior Worlds Open Water race, taking place in the Netherlands in July.  To make the team, Vicky had to be one of the top two Canadian swimmers in her age group.  Vicky finished second overall to Emily Brunemann, the 2013 10km World Cup series winner.  Vicky was near the top throughout the race, and with Emily broke away from the rest of the pack with approximately 3km left in the race.  Emily was able to pull ahead of Vicky eventually, but never by more than 5-10 meters as Vicky wouldn't back down through to the very end.

PCS also helped Comox swimmer Brooke Lamoureux prepare and execute the race, her first 10km race.  Brooke finished 6th overall, third Canadian in her age group and thus did not qualify for Junior Worlds, but it was a strong race nonetheless.

Congratulations swimmers and coaches!
