VIRs - Day 1 Recap

The 1st day of VIRs was a great success for our swimmers with multiple personal bests, medals, and broken club and Provincial records!

The night started off with the 4x50 Fr relays:

  • The PCS 10&U Girls A team of Elizabeth Saska, Mila Chernenkoff, Adrina G-C, and Teigan Hawes came in 3rd in a time of 2:36.64 
  • The PCS 12&U Girls A team of Lucy Hallett, Imogen Hawes, Sidney Boone, and Kate Marcovitz won gold in a time of 2:01.48
  • The PCS 13&14 Girls A team of Bridget Rupert, Mariana Ponce de Leon, Misato Hiraoka, and Adelina Benn came in 2nd in a time of 1:55.97
  • The PCS 12&U Boys A team of Kieran Feenstra, Alex Camaraire, Ethan Woo, and Noah Hicks came in 2nd in a time of 2:06.46

Best Times

  • Elizabeth Saska (10) had a tight race right to the wall finishing second by only .10 of a second going a best time of 1:37.33 in 100 Br
  • Constantine Tchaouchev (10) won a bronze medal in a best time of 1:39.57 in 100 Br
  • Kieran Feenstra took the gold in the 12&Under Boys 100 Br in a new best time of 1:27.21
  • Constantine took the bronze again in the 100 Fly in a new best time of 1:29.70 
  • Isaac Liu took the bronze in the 200 Fly for 12 & Under boys dropping 10 seconds from the a.m. swim finishing in 3:18.48
  • Kieran continued his winning ways taking the gold in 29.60 dropping nearly a full second from his AM 50 Fr
  • Kieran also won a bronze medal in the 800 Fr from the a.m. session in a 11:02.84. The C- group had 12 swimmers take on the 800 freestyle showing their skills over a little distance. Jessica Hier was our fastest going 10:57.02 for fifth place on the girls side.
  • Bill Dongfang continued his assault on the record book. Laid a crushing on the 13-14 club records in 800 Fr (almost four seconds under existing record) and 200 IM (over two seconds under Ryan Howe’s record) and dipped well under the old Provincial record in 200 Fly for the second time in as many months at 2:03.7. Dongfang won each of his events.
  • Kali Lancaster took the top spot in 15&O Girls 100 Br in a best time of 1:13.2
  • Teagan Hunt took second place in 800 Fr in a best time of 9:21
  • Taryn Mercer (14) dropped 1.5s in her 50 Bk to take 3rd, and her first VIR medal!
  • Kieran Hawes (14) was first of the B Prov training group to crack 30 seconds in 50 Fr, going 29.99!
  • Simon de Rosnay continued to chop time off his 800 Fr with a 15 second personal best.

Pacific Coast Swimming leads the meet after the first day by over 400 points with a total of 2108 points. 
The meet continues Saturday and Sunday with the heats starting at 9:00 am and finals at 5:00 pm.
