Western Canadian Open Day 2 Recap

The Pacific Coast Swimming women’s 4X200 Freestyle relay team led the way on Friday night, as they captured a bronze medal in dramatic fashion, out touching fourth place by less than two tenths of a second.  Despite being one of the youngest teams in the event, the crew of Erin Lawrance, Jordan Andrusak, Jessica Luo and Molly Gowans posted a 3rd place finish in a time of 8:26.32.

In individual events, Jessica Luo continued her strong meet placing 4th place in the 15 & Under 100 freestyle after she posted a 58.71.  In the 16 & Over category, Erin Lawrance swam her second sub one minute 100 free of the day, touching the wall in a time of 59.69 in the B Final of the event.

Hana Edwards swam to a best time of 1:18.30 in the 15 & Under 100 breaststroke, while Jordan Andrusak hit the wall in a time of 1:16.06 in the 16 & over 100 breaststroke.  The finishes placed them 7th and 6th respectively in the B Final of the event in their age groups.

Swimming in her third event of the evening, Erin Lawrance posted a personal best in the 400 IM of 5:07.64 and a seventh place finish. Lawrance was bumped into the A final of the event after a scratch between heats and finals, and rose to the occasion, moving up during her swim out of lane eight in the evening.  Haley Bennett and Jordan Andrusak swam to 5th and 7th places respectively in the B final of the 400 IM.  Bennett’s time of 5:12.63 knocked off over three seconds from her previous best time, while Andrusak came within half a second of her personal best.

Hannah Lorette swam to a time of 31.40 in the B final of the 15 & Under 50 back, bringing her total time taken off in the event to 1.13 seconds for the day.
