Western Canadian Open Day 4 Recap

Multiple medals in 200 fly lead the way for Pacific Coast Swimming on the last day of competition.

Day 4 of the Speedo Western Canadian Open started off with a bang, as Jessica Luo continued her weekend roll and captured a bronze medal in Women’s 15 & Under 200 fly. Her time of 2:21.84 was a personal best by over five seconds, and under the Olympic Trials standard. On the men’s side of things, Lucas Tyler swam to a silver medal in the 16 & Under 200 fly. Coming home strong, Tyler moved up from 5th to 2nd during the last 50 metres of the race, to touch the wall in a time of 2:07.63.

It was a quick turnaround for Luo, as she was back in the water for 50 free less than 30 minutes after her impressive 200 fly performance. Finishing 4th place in the B Final, she once again posted a best time and gained valuable points for the Pacific Coast Swimming crew.

Jordan Andrusak and Allison Ballantyne swam to 1st and 6th places respectively in the Women’s 16 & Over 200 IM B Final. Andrusak’s blistering finals time of 2:23.73 would have placed her 5th position in the A Final of the event.

In the last event of the weekend for the Bolts, the relay team of Lauren Crisp, Jordan Andrusak, Jessica Luo and Molly Gowans posted an impressive 7th place finish, despite some of the team swimming under the weather. Their time of 2:01.77 set a new 15 to 17 Year Old Club Record, as well as a Women’s Open Club Record.
