VICTORIA, BC – Second-year Vike Kaitlin Gervais grabbed the only medal of the day for the University of Victoria Vikes men and women's swimming teams alongside many positive performances from the Vikes in day two of the Canada West Swimming Championships in Vancouver, B.C.

2015 Bennett Cup was pretty generous for B group swimmers. Generous in solid swims and lots of experience.

We started Saturday finals with some great 4 x 50 IM relays. Our 12-13 boys (Dylan Kormendy, Tom Chapman, Jacob Rambo and Anthony Gutierrez) placed second, although they had to race the clock in the first heat. We won 14-15 girls category (Lily Chen, Emma Carter, Jessica Luo, Allison Ballantyne) and placed 3^rd in girls 16 & over (Anna Letkeman, Haley Bennett, Erin Lawrance, Rachel Sawchuk).

We had a pretty good first day in Langley.. coming over on the first ferry and swimming “Shoes Off”: Joining into the meet without in-water warm-ups to add a little challenge.

Our first event up was 100 BK, Asia Trudel took on the competition and was the fastest qualifier going into finals. A good accomplishment, taking her own responsibility for her swimming as the coaches still had not arrived yet.
