Day Two Report from the 2014 Western Canadian Championships

Valentines Day marked the 2nd day of competition at the Canadian Western Championships in New West and it was a day of great heart for the PCS side.

Competition began with 100 Free.

The PCS girls contingent had strong representation with four girls in the mix.
In the Youth division Molly Gowans swam to fifth spot in a very respectable 57.6, Rachel Sawchuk 8th, Jordan Andrusak and Lauren Crisp 13th. Quite a showing.

Nick Beland completed the distance in 53.4 to come 14th.

Western Canadian Championships Day One Report

It was a very exciting first day of competition for PCS in New Westminster at the Western Canadian Swimming Championships.

Hightlites:

50 Fly
Nick Beland snuck into the B final and although was not faster tonight he had a good drop in the morning. He finished 16th at night.

Final Day of 2014 SC AAA's

The final day of the 2014 SC AAA in Kamloops saw 3 gold medals and 2 silver for PCS swimmers.

Jessica Luo took home the gold and got an Age Group National time in the 11&U Girls 100 FL.  She also captured silver in the 11&U Girls 50FR.

Michael Schmidt won the gold medal in the 200BR and swam to the silver medal in the 50FR.

And finishing off the day, Kier Ogilvie won gold in the 100FL.

Coaches Update from Sunday Racing at 2014 SC AAA's in Kamloops

More podium finishes for our 11&U swimmers at the 2014 SC AAA Provincial Meet taking place in Kamloops this weekend.

Michael Schmidt took the gold medal and set a new AAA meet record in his 100BR swim and brought home the bronze medals in both the 400IM and 100FR. Jessica Luo capped off her busy day with the silver medal in the 100FR event.

Aimeson King swims to 10th place in strong field at BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series Open Water Challenge

Aimeson King swam to 10th place in strong field of 19 international swimmers at the BHP Billiton Aquatic Super Series 10KM Open Water Challenge.  Aimeson lost the lead pack at the 7km mark, subsequently lead the second pack.  He almost bridged the gap to the front pack at approximately 8.5 KM, but was unable to catch them and continued to swim ahead of the second pack.

SC AAA Medal Winners - Saturday

Congratulations to Keir Ogilvie, taking his first Provincial medal with a bronze in the 11&U boys 200m fly.

Anya Pasemko took the second medal for PCS and added to her brother Kier's for the second medal for her family, swimming to top spot in 12-13 girls 100m backstroke.

Jessica Luo captured silver in the 11&U girls 200m IM

And rounding out the day, Michael Schmidt swam to gold in the 11&U boys 200m IM.

Horner welcomes opportunity as athlete rep

MONTREAL - Two-time Olympian Stephanie Horner of Montreal has been named chair of the Swimming Canada Athletes Council.

The 24-year-old brings a mix of experience that made her an excellent choice for the role, which also includes representing athletes on the Swimming Canada selection committee.

“I’m extremely pleased to announce that Stephanie has enthusiastically agreed to come on board and jump into this role,” said John Atkinson, Swimming Canada’s high performance director.
