Xmas Cracker Day 1

“Its all its Cracked up to be”.. that is the slogan on the giant 33 foot banner which has become a long standing tradition at Xmas Cracker. It hangs on the wall inviting all to bring their best.

And bring it they did!

In the Stroke 50’s which are Timed finals (no final) we had great success.

50 Butterfly Grace Macdonald won 15 and older women at 29.21Sydney Meldrum 6th in 30.,13. Bill Dongfang owned the 13-14 boys event causing to top spot by 3.0 seconds and breaking the existing club and Vancouver Island regional record by .5 seconds.

50 Backstroke Lily Chen stroked to second at 29.88 followed closely by training mate, Grace Macdonald(3rd) in 30.39.

50 Breaststroke Kali Lancaster was quick and sped to a PB that took her to a tie for 7th w former teammate Rincon. Ballarin took second on the men’s side at 29.99.

200m Medley Relay got the show started UVPCS 15 and over women (Chen, Lancaster, Meldrum, Macdonald) took top spot at 1:59.71, edging UVic 2:00.09. On the men’s side UVPCS (Rambo, Ballarin, Dongfang and Murdock) also snatched top spot in 1:45.6 over Surrey at1:49.20.

Naeva Scott-Bouris, Bill Dongfang and Jacob Rambo came through for PCS in 200m Freestyle. Dongfang set new a new Provincial Record at 1:53.76 that stood for 22 years. Former recorder holds Brian Johns went on to set innumerable records, including a world record in 400IM SCM and represented Canada internationally Scott Bouris top third (2:06.1). Murdock won on the men’s side in 1:48.62 and Jake Rambo 5th in 1:55.21 a PB.

200m Medley saw Kali Lancaster advance to the A Final. She stripped off 2.5 seconds across the days efforts and swam to a 226.0 Grace Macdonald handily won the B side final in a PB of 2:25.0. Rambo was at it a short time after his 200m Free, climbing to 3rd in a PB at 2:07.72

The 1500m Freestyle ended the night off with Naeva Scott- Bouris coming from behind to take top spot in a PB at 17:21.21 for 15and over women. Anthony Gutierrez finished 5th in a PB at 16:17.44
