Day 1 Updates from AA's in Chilliwack

After the first day of competition at the 2011 AA's Short Course Championships, PCS has found the podium in 3 events and many of the swimmers are setting new personal bests and making new time standards!

Here are some of the highlights from Day 1:

Women Third, Men Fourth After Final Day of Canada West Swimming Championships

VANCOUVER - Three more swimmers from the University of Victoria Vikes achieved the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) standard as the Vikes women placed third, edging out Alberta by 13 points, and the Vikes men fourth at the 2011 Canada West swimming championships at the UBC Aquatic Centre in Vancouver.

The Vikes now prepare for the CIS swimming championships to be held in Calgary, Feb. 24-26.

Day 2 at this year’s Vancouver Island Regional Championships saw more impressive swimming from PCS swimmers in all age groups. To start the day off, PCS won the mixed 8 swimmer 400 Freestyle Club Relay event! This was followed by numerous other memorable performances including new club, meet and regional records, finalists and event wins. Here are some of the day’s highlights:

Here are some highlights from Day 1 of Vancouver Island Regional Championships.

Emma Carter makes her first 11&U AAA /time in 100BR.
Ryan Howe wins 50FR and 200IM, setting a new club record in 200IM.

Rosie Moulton wins 50FR, 100BR and 200IM, narrowly off of the club record in each.

Stephanie Dixon Named 2010 Sport BC Award Finalist

Stephanie Dixon was recently named a finalist for the 2010 Sport BC 45th Annual Athlete of the Year Awards in the Athlete with a Disability category. Other finalists in the category are Braedon Dolfo (Langley, BC) for Athletics/Track & Field and Lauren Woolstencroft (North Vancouver, BC) for Para-Alpine Skiing. Congratulations Stephanie!

The winners will be announced on February 24, 2011 at the Sport BC Awards Dinner.  Tickets are available through Sport BC.

Congratulations to PCS swimmers who were selected from all those on Vancouver Island to attend the Annual 10 & Under VIR Regional Camp in Duncan.
