Day One Finals Summary

UVPCS Golden and in record form.

On the first day of competition the UVPCS Age Nationals squad were running hot.

Jessica Lou - in her first time at this level qualified 7th in prelims and maintained her position in finals netting PB's in each effort. She finished in 1:08.8

On the boys side Lucas Tyler cruised to his best time and a 6th spot in 57.8, setting a 15-17 Boys club record in teh process (Sinclair 58.96 '07

Canadian Age Group Nationals begin on Wednesday a 7:00am in Winnipeg. 850 of Canada's best up and coming swimmers will compete over the following five days. UVPCS will be represented by seventeen swimmers across the five age classifications.

Vikes Swim Camp Reminder

The first week of PCS Swimming Camp at UVic has successfully concluded, with week two coming up Monday the 21st.

Camp runs Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm. Ages 8-12, Lightning Fast Level 3/Red Cross Level 6 or higher. Swim Camp includes a technical swim practice in the morning and a fun swim at the outdoor pool at Ian Stewart in the afternoon.

Day Four Finals

The final session of the Canadian National Championships ended with two strong swims for UVPCS. Jon McKay finsihed 13th in 200m Butterfly and 7th in 1500m Free.

Although the National Championships are over the Canadian Age Group National Championships will begin on Wednesday, July 23 in Winnipeg. UVPCS will be there in force with 15 athletes.

Day Four Preliminaries

The fourth day of competition here is Saskatoon. It is warm and muggy.. the session was similar.

Jordan Andrusak finished just out of the top 20 with a 2:25 in 200m Butterfly. Jon McKay came home strong in 2:05 to qualify 12th for tonight.

In 200m Individual Medley Andrusak also concluded in 2:25 and placed 26th and di not advance.

Molly Gowans and hence the relay were out today due to illness. Gowans has two more competitions to come.

The second last night of competition began with the 400m Free for the team Pacific Coast.

Day Three Preliminaries

Although the swimming at the Shaw Center in Saskatoon has not been that fast in general the UVPCS athletes were among the strongest.

Despite fighting a cold Molly Gowans came on strong in the 400m Free to qualify in 14th spot at 4:27.0 Vicky Mock was just out of the action for tonight settling for 1st alternate in 4:30. Jon McKay qualifed 17th on the men's side in a 4:03.

15 year old Lucas Tyler's 100m Fly was just off his best at 58.6. He did not advance.

Day Two Finals

Air quality was dropping and the lightning storm was coming in as the first whistle blew to begin the finals session tonight. Lightning struck in the UVPCS camp both for better and for worse.

400IM Jordan Andrusak swam a well paced race and finshed second in the B Final but was subsequently disqualified for turn infraction.

Day Two Preliminaries

The second day of the meet arose hazy amid the smoke from forest fires, and it was a bit of a hazy day for team UVPCS.

In spite of being a bit off the mark Jordan Andrusak slid into the B Final in 400IM in 5:07 breaking the 15-17 club record in the process (Moulton 5:08 2013).

Lauren Crisp was just over her best in the 50m Backstroke and did not advance.

Molly Gowans did not make the finals cut in 100 Fr at 59.5.

Day One Finals - Record falls. PCS in 9th position.

A smoky red sun hung in the prairie sky on the first evening of competition in Saskatoon. While the sun was dim the evenng was a very strong one for the UVPCS crew.

Jon McKay led the team out with a 7th place swim in the 800 Fr in 8:20. Aimeson King took 12th spot in 827.1
