Day 3 of 4 at Western Championships

Another stellar performance from our Uvic-Pacific Coast Swimming Westerns athletes on Saturday. In the morning, the boy's 4x100m medley relay qualified for Junior Nationals with a time of 4:05.97.

At finals, Jessica H. (13) started the team off on Saturday night, placing 7th in the 13-15 400m freestyle B-final. Alonso got his 3rd Junior National cut of the meet in his 400m freestyle, placing 8th in the 16& under A-final with a time of 4:17.22.

Day 2 with 2 new Jr. National cuts at Kinsmen Pool

Another great session in the water this Friday evening in Edmonton for our group of 2022 Western Swimmers. 

Alonso Gurerriez placed second in the B-Final, with another personal best of 54.8, obtaining his second Junior National standard this meet. Atanas Tchaouchev swam another personal best in his 100m breastroke, placing 5th in the A-final and qualfiying for his first Junior National cut. Arran Robertson placed 5th in the Men's open A-final with a time improvement from this morning.

Western Championships Day 1

Uvic-Pacific Coast Swimming started off with an exciting first day at 2022 Speedo Western Championships!

First off with 100m backstroke, Bridget R. & R. Greenfield both snagged personal bests in the morning to start us off. Rupert made the 15& under A final and moves up at night! Not only that, she rips 1.2  seconds off her morning best time, making her first Junior National cut with a time of 1:06.97.

Annual Club Picture Night

Calling ALL members of Pacific Coast Swimming! 

Our Annual club picture night is taking place on Wednesdsay, April 27th 7pm at Centennial Stadium located at UVIC. Please come in your navy blue PCS shirt!

All practices cancelled Wednesday Evening in preparation for the event. All PCS swimmers are welcomed and encouraged to come out and be a part of our 2022 club photo!

Hedlin to Represent Canada at the FINA World Championships

A big congratulations to Eric Hedlin (Uvic Alumni) for qualifying for the FINA World Championships this past weekend based off of his performance in the 1500m freestyle. Eric will represent Canada in the open water FINA championships taking place in Budapest, Hungary at the end of June. Coach Ryan Clouston will be representing UVPCS as Eric's coach during this event. Eric was one of seven swimmers chosen to represent Canada in the Open Water category.

Thank you to all the volunteers, officials, and helpers who were putting in time at the pool this week. The swim meet was made possible from all of you! It's so great to see everyone back on the pool deck as a swim community. See you at the next competition!

2022 Canadian Bell Trials Highlights

Commonwealth was a busy and exciting place this weekend with 2022 Bell Canadian Trials taking place, hosted by Swimming Canada & co-hosted by Island Swimming and yours truly. For the first time in almost three years, we had over 500 athletes filling Commonwealth Pool from 131 clubs all across Canada. Uvic - Pacific Coast Swimming had 19 swimmers competiting in various events over the course of the six day comeptition.
