Performances at Provincials

It has been a busy weekend at Commonwealth Pool with over 720 swimmers competing in this year's 2022 Swim BC Provincial Championships. Our team of Pacific Coast Swimming qualifiers have been shining with some fantastic performances so far this weekend. On Friday, Conor Poulin qualified for his first Canadian Westerns cut in 400m freestyle. Elizabeth Saska (first provincial compeition) came third in both the 100m freestyle & 50m backstroke.

Our Second Day at Divisionals

PCS swimmers were on fire tonight at day two of Divisional Finals! We started off the evening with 200m freestyle where Nora Dietsch dropped 3 additional seconds from her 10 second best time prelims swim and placed first. Isabella Meyer placed 6th in her 200m freestyle with a 3-second personal best. On the boy's side, Sebastian Damian placed 5th with a 4 second best time. In the 13-14 category, Rubin Lee placed 8th overall.

Team BC Hot: Day Canada Games

Team BC had a very good first day in Winnipeg. Out of four able bodied and two Para events, BC struck gold in men's 800Fr, and both 4x200 Fr Relays. Jessica Luo(PCS)anchored the women's team with a two second PB to steal gold from Team Ontario. Sophie Lorette(PCS) came 'oh so close' to the hardware with a fourth in women's 1500Fr. Aimee Brennan took silver in Para 400Fr. Congratulaions to all.

Racing continues tomorrow with action for Team BC in 50Br, 200Fly, 400IM, 100Fr and 4x50Fr relay.

PCS Wins AAA SC Championship

PCS successfully defended their AAA Championship win from last summer over the weekend in Surrey.  The team led the meet from start to finish, beating out second place KISU by over 500 points. There were multiple PCS swimmers on the podium this weekend, including many visits to the top from Dylan Kormendy, Michael Schmidt, Jessica Luo, Lucas Tyler, and Molly Gowans.

Chilliwack Day 3

Final day of racing wraped up at the BC AA SC Championships, with PCS brining home two gold, two silvers, and a bronze.  On top of that Mikyla Bunting earned her second AAA time in the heats of 100 breast (1:32.49), qualifiying herself for the meet. Overall PCS has SIX new qualifiers headed to Surrey in two weeks from this weekend.  Congratulations swimmers and coaches on a great weekend.

Chilliwack Day 2 Finals

Another great session for PCS swimmers in Chilliwack this Saturday evening.  Congratulations to Anthony Gutierrez (12), Taiki Hiraoka (11), and Lia Lancaster (14) who all earned their second AAA qualifying time, securing their way to Surrey next month. This brings the total number of PCS swimmers at the meet who have newly qualified for AAAs up to FIVE.

Rod Barratt Named U14 BC Swim Coach of the Year

Rod Barratt - 2013 SwimBC U14 Coach of the Year

PCS B-group coach Rod Barratt was this year’s winner of the BC Swim Coaches Association Coach of the Year for the 14 & under age group. The award was presented at the Swim BC Awards Banquet held at the Fairmont Whistler resort on Saturday, September 21st. Congratulations Rod!
