Vicky Mock raced in Grand Cayman this morning at the annual Flowers Sea swim.  This 10km race was chosen by Swim Canada as the qualification for the Junior Worlds Open Water race, taking place in the Netherlands in July.  To make the team, Vicky had to be one of the top two Canadian swimmers in her age group.  Vicky finished second overall to Emily Brunemann, the 2013 10km World Cup series winner.  Vicky was near the top throughout the race, and with Emily broke away from the rest of the pack with approximately 3km left in the race.

Day three of the Vancouver Island Regional Long Course Championships saw Pacific Coast Swimming crowned top club on Vancouver Island with their commanding win in the overall team points total.  With an score of 9905 points, the Bolts more than doubled the point scores of their closest competitor and cross-town rival, Island Swimming.  The last session of the meet saw more than one-hundred and twenty final swims by Pacific Coast Swimming, as well as fifty-nine podium finishes. 

Overall Team Scores:

Pacific Coast Swimming had an impressive first day at the Vancouver Island Regional Championships with ninety-four individual finals swims.  In total the Bolts have ninety-two athletes competing at the three-day meet being held at Saanich Commonwealth Place.  The meet marks the first weekend of championship racing for the squad, as they gear up for the summer ahead with racing at AA Provincials, AAA Provincials, Canadian Age Group Championships, and Senior National Championships on the horizon. 

The final session of the Hyack Invitational saw twenty-six top eight results by the Bolts that included nine podium finishes.  The New Westminster meet was one of the final tune-ups prior to Pacific Coast athletes’ entering long course championship season with the summer quickly approaching.
