Vikes Alumnus Punches Ticket to Pan Pacs

Vikes Alumnus and Pacific Coast Swimming standout MacKenzie Downing came second in the 200m Fly event at the Summer National Championships on Wednesday evening. Her time of 2:10.10 qualified her for Canada's squad competing at the Pan Pacific trials in Irving, California next month.

Downing led after the first 100m with a 1.01 second lead but down the stretch fellow Canadian Audrey Lacroix pulled ahead to clock in at 2:09.89.

Thetis Lake H20 Swim for MS

On Sunday seven keen PCS swimmers got up early for a swim at the lake to support a great cause! These swimmers competed in the Thetis Lake Swim and gathered pledges to help end MS. The team raised well over $1000 (official total to come) and swam to some great results.

Day 4 Update From Age Group Nationals

Day 4 Update from Coach Mark.

Our fourth night started off with Ryan Howe swimming to within a 100th of his best time in the 100 backstroke finishing 6th in a time of 1:04.09.

Next came Stefanie Schmidt in the same event finishing 3rd in a new club record time of 1:06.81 erasing Jayme Weimer`s old 100 meter backstroke record and also earning Stefanie a new National time.

Day 3 Highlights from Age Group Nationals

Tonight's swims looked like this....

Lauren McMillan swam to a 6th place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a best time and new club record of 1:16.61.

Aidan Thirkell also went a best time and finished 8th in a time of 1:11.07 in his 100 breaststroke.

Zac Parkes came in 5th in the 50 freestyle in 24.81 setting a new club record with his goggles full of water off of the dive.

Stefanie Schmidt swam to an 8th place finish with her morning swim in the 800 free.

Day 2 From Age Group Nationals

Tonight the results were Ian Mattock taking off 4 seconds in the senior boys 400 IM and setting a new best time in 4:44.28 for 8th place.

Next was Ryan Howe swimming to a 5th place in the 50 back in a time a of 29.35 setting a new best time and closing in on the club record.

The club record for the 14&Under girls 4x200 freestyle relay was set by the relay team consisting of Salin Bol, Alex Kierstead, Rosie Moulton, Hanna Carter in a time of 9:06.45.

Our first night at the Age Group Nationals in Winnipeg was a good one with 4 final swims and some really exciting results...

Our first final of the night came with Ryan Howe swimming his 100 butterfly in a new best time of 1:01.40 and finishing 6th.

ROBERVAL– Italy’s Valerio Cleri took the World title in the Men’s 10km open water race today that the 6e FINA World Championships in Roberval, Quebec.

Russia’s Evgeny Drattsev and Vladimir Dyatchin took the second and third positions to end one of the most dramatic open water races of the year.

Canadian Richard Weinberger of Victoria produced a solid 13th place finish, securing a spot on Canada’s Pan Pacific Championships team.
