Jon McKay represented Canada at the 2019 Pan Pacific Games in Lima on Sunday in the 10km Open Water race! Jon, coming off a great swim at World Champs, was swimming confidently moving into Lima. Jon swam with the pack for just over half the race before making a move on the field and moving away from the pack. Unfortunately Jon mis-counted at some point, and thought he was one lap ahead of where he was (out of 8 total laps). This meant that once he realized his mistake, he had spent too much energy to finish as strong as he wanted to. After being 48 seconds ahead of the field with only

Wild night in Tucson!! Well it was hot and wild in Tucson tonight. The night started off over 105 degrees so even getting up on the blocks was kind of hot on the feet.
In only his 2nd ever UltraMarathon Race, Chris Deegan, representing Australia (and UVPCS!) finished second overall this year! As a Fina race series, this race always attracts some of the Ultra-Distance swimmers in the world, and to come 2nd is quite the achievement! Chris will come away from the race with 4500 American dollars in prize money (with perhaps a 1000$ bonus if the results show he had the fastest 500m in the race, to be determined), and a lot of pride! Chris swam with the pack until the eventual winner, Marcel Schouten from the Netherlands, decided to break away from the pack

The relay team of Lily Chen, Kali Lancaster, Sydney Meldrum, and Grace MacDonald went into the race seeded 8th, but finished in 6th place with some good efforts by the team. The meet continues on through until Sunday.
